I cannot think of a more deserving person to receive this award. I have long admired Nev for his unwavering efforts to raise the science of arboriculture to a higher level. His early vision to organize seminars that would bring together arborists that other scientists developing innovative approaches to improving tree health have resulted in a very successful on-going seminar series that have greatly helped improve the art and science of arboriculture. Veteran tree management and retrenchment pruning are just two of several of his approaches that are now gaining prominence in the US and other countries. What Nev has accomplished with his innovative ideas while also managing and actively practicing at Treeworks Environmental Practice has been an inspiration to me, and I am sure to many arborists and others involved in various aspects of tree health.
