£13,000 Paid Under the Proceeds of Crime Act for Destruction of a Protected Tree

A man in Chester has been ordered to pay £28,000 for the destruction of a protected tree. The fine includes £13,750 which has been ordered under the Proceeds of Crime Act to reflect the increase in the value of his property that accrued from the removal of the tree.
To my knowledge this is the second time that the Proceeds of Crime Act has been used in this way. The previous occasion was in Poole in November 2012.
While reviewing these articles online I also saw that a Norfolk man has been fined £36,000 (inc. £13,833 costs) for felling 11 trees in a Conservation Area without notifying the Local Authority.

Volcanic Rock Dust Application for Oaks with AOD

Today we are applying Volcanic Rock Dust to the root zones of one of the sample groups of oaks with Acute Oak Decline at Richmond Park. This is one of the four trial treatments in our Soil-is-Key study in partnership with The Royal Parks and Laverstoke Park Laboratories. We sourced the Volcanic Rock Dust with the support of Binn Soil Nutrients following advice from Lee Klinger (Sudden Oak Life).

New Compost Tea Kit

We are getting to use the new Compost Tea applicator on the trial trees at Bushy Park today. The Soil-is-Key Team of Simon Parfey, Laverstoke Park Laboratories & me, Luke Fay, are using the new nozzle set & I must say the coverage is great!
