Melton Borough Council Awards Tree Survey Contract to Treework Environmental Practice
Melton Borough Council shares contract with partner Councils. Inter-Authority collaboration will result in workforce and cost efficiency benefits.
Treework Environmental Practice is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a contract to provide Tree Risk and Condition Surveys for The Borough of Melton and District of Harborough. The contract is also available to other Local Authorities in Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
Treework Environmental Practice will provide Tree Risk and Condition Surveys using their database / GIS called MyTrees, to compile a database of trees within the Councils' ownership, catalogue their condition and identify work requirements. The resulting data and reports will be provided, free of charge, to the councils for integration into their internal tree management systems to enable council staff to manage their tree stock. Treework Environmental Practice are also offering to provide MyTrees to the councils with the survey data, at no extra cost.
From the outset contract-lead Authority, Melton Borough Council, hoped that the contract would be used by partner Local Authorities. Since signing with Treework Environmental Practice to provide the Tree Condition Surveys to The Borough of Melton and District of Harborough, Charnwood Borough Council has asked to use the contract and it's expected that other Local Authorities will do so in future months. By using the existing contract Charnwood Borough Council will not have to spend time specifying service requirements, putting out a tender notice, reviewing responses and drawing up a new legal contract. Instead they can immediately have Tree Surveys undertaken and begin any necessary works. The contract is an excellent example of how Local Authorities can collaborate to save time, money and effort resulting in great benefits to the local area and the public.
