Chairman of the Ancient Tree Forum, and founder of Tree Aid. Devised the Specialist Survey Method (SSM) as national standard for surveying veteran trees. He has developed training programmes in arboricultural management for land owners and Managers such as, English Nature, the Countryside Council for Wales, Scottish National Heritage, and the Forestry Commission. Neville lectures and publishes widely on veteran trees, arboriculture and the development of appropriate techniques for managing trees for risk and habitat. Co-author of Veteran Trees - a guide to risk and responsibility in association with Caroline Davis and Charles Mynors (English Nature 2000, 2001). He has also initiated the Treework Environmental Practice seminar series. Neville is often contracted as an expert witness.

Contracts Manager / Arboricultural Consultant
Has over ten years experience in undertaking and managing surveys of large tree populations including development site surveys, veteran tree surveys and local authority tree risk surveys. He has developed the MyTrees databases and GIS for surveying and management within all of these spheres. He has attended a range of courses targeted towards tree assessment and provides training in surveying for tree risk management and veteran tree surveying and management.
Paul Muir,
Contracts Administrator / Arboricultural Consultant
BSc. MSc (Environmental Forestry).
Contract administrator and tree Consultant with over 15 years experience. He regularly manages tree work contracts for amenity and veteran trees; with a range of values from £1,000 to over £100,000. He provides training in tree surgery techniques required for working with veteran trees and health and safety advice. Paul is also experienced in surveying trees for risk and providing consultancy advice regarding trees in relation to development sites. Paul is the UK’s leading authority on tree statics and the tree pulling test.
Rachael Fay
Seminar Administrator / Accounts
Has been working as Treework Environmental Practice’s office manager since 2006 and plays a key role in making sure that the office runs smoothly. Rachael looks after the administration and accounts and has a vital role in organising the ongoing Treework Environmental Practice seminar series.
