Treework Environmental Practice has been providing arboricultural surveys and consultancy services to WODC since 2006 and were originally selected after a competitive tender based on their submission, their ability to work with the computer software we already had in place and the speed they were able to complete the work.

BNG-Ready Tree Data

From 12th February 2024, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) will be a mandatory requirement for new developments to deliver measurable improvements in biodiversity of at least 10% compared to the pre-development baseline. It will apply to most schemes requiring planning permission in England.

To support our clients in meeting these new requirements, the Treework team now delivers tree survey data that is fully aligned and compliant with both BS5837:2012 and the additional tree data required to feed into the BNG metric.

Arboricultural Services

As industry leaders in ancient and veteran trees, we are also ready to assist our clients in recognising, evidencing, and managing ancient and veteran trees as irreplaceable habitat under the new process.

How We Can Support You

  • BNG-compatible baseline tree data:Β Our tree surveys identify and assess the trees on a proposed development site in compliance with BS5837:2012. We can now tailor this information so that it can be fed straight into the BNG metric to calculate the biodiversity baseline value for trees on site. We will continue to quickly and easily assess the impact of development on trees but can now also help you to identify opportunities for tree retention and enhancement to meet your BNG obligations.
  • Ancient and veteran tree experts:Β As industry leaders, we have a team of specialists with extensive knowledge of ancient and veteran trees. This knowledge is essential for ensuring that these irreplaceable habitats are properly considered in the development process.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Our team will work with you at the earliest possible stage to reduce your risks and potential costs and foster a collaborative team approach to help ensure your project runs smoothly and has a successful outcome.
  • Maintenance and Monitoring. We can help you ensure that new tree planting schemes planted to achieve BNG have appropriate maintenance and aftercare plans so that they become established as healthy, valuable habitat and thrive well beyond the 30 years’ minimum maintenance period.
