CAVAT Training with Treework Consultants

This month, our Consultant Team Meeting brought our consultants from across the UK to The Curious Lounge in Reading for training in the Capital Asset Value for Amenity Trees (CAVAT).

Stewart Marshal (MTOA and CAVAT Executive Group), expertly delivered the training and took our consultants through the principles, processes and practice of CAVAT, within the classroom and followed with field application and a test in Forbury Gardens Park.

In true Treework fashion, the team were inquisitive and explored all of the workings of the system, questioning, debating, feeding back and coming to understand and apply.

Stewart complimented the team’s engagement: “A big thank you to Treework from the MTOA, for a scintillating training session. As a CAVAT trainer, it is always encouraging to work with a group that really grasps both the concepts and the practical application of the system.”

We have been working with CAVAT for over a decade, applying it to inform decision making and planning applications and using modelling to forecast the change in the value of retained and planted trees over time, and Luke Fay has been a member of the CAVAT Executive Group, developing CAVAT for several years. As soon as the CAVAT Executive Group and the MTOA had developed the training for the updated CAVAT method, we applied to book our training.
