Principal Arboricultural Consultant

Howard joined the team at Treework Environmental Practice as a Principal Arboricultural Consultant in 2024. He has more than 20 years’ experience in arboriculture working in both local authorities and commercial organisations.

With significant experience of trees in relation to planning and development, Howard has led the revision of BS 5837 helping to refine the industry approach to how trees are considered in design and ensuring their protection. Projects Howard has been engaged with, range from small scale domestic and highway projects through to master planning for residential developments and supporting large scale national infrastructure projects.

For local authorities and private estates, Howard has developed tree management systems and tree management strategies. He has managed large-scale tree inventories and designed approaches to prioritising tree works to discharge the duty of care of tree owners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science with Honours degree, Forestry and Forest Products, University of Wales Bangor
  • Royal Forestry Society Professional Diploma in Arboriculture, ABC Awards
  • Technicians Certificate in Arboriculture, ABC Awards
