Meet the team – James Convenant, Arboricultural Surveyor

James ConvenantHi James. We know that you are very busy so thank you for taking the time to talk to us about your role at Treework!

How long have you been working for Treework Environmental Practice?

Nearly six years.

What does your role entail?

I am an Arboricultural Surveyor.

I carry out tree surveys relating to development or for inventory/risk management.

What do you enjoy most about working at Treework Environmental Practice?

Treework is a company that is pro-active and progressive within the arboricultural industry. There is a passionate drive to learn, produce and share current understanding of trees throughout the industry and beyond.

Treework is the most supportive company I have worked for, both professionally and personally. Training is always on-going with professional development a key part of the role. My personal welfare is also considered to be equally important.

What is your favourite thing about being an Arboricultural surveyor? What do you find most challenging?

My favourite thing is being outside studying trees. Every tree and every site is different.

Most challenging is engaging with people who have a different view of trees and their role on the planet.

What are your (personal and professional) objectives for the rest of 2021?

Professionally I am hoping to finally get to take the Vetcert which has been postponed twice due to Covid so I am preparing for that. Personally I’d like to go visit an old friend who has recently moved to Scotland. Might even find the time to go find some ancient pines.
