….How much?

….….Where is it?

….….….What could we achieve if we could collect it all in one place and analyse it?

This is the subject of two workshops that our Director Luke Fay will be leading with Joe Fennell of JFScientific and Hannah Walker of Forest Research at the Arboricultural Association Conference this September.

…🌳There are millions of tree records held by private tree consultancy, councils and other landowners and managers across the UK.

…🌳There are thousands of questions that analysis of this data could answer.

…🌳There are systems and processes that could be improved, informed and automated.

These workshops build on the work that we have partnered in with Forest Research and Open University and others, to do including The Big Tree Data Project and Communitree, where we brought our expertise in the collection and analysis of tree data to support the development of tools for the whole arboricultural and urban forestry world, Luke and Joe will be presenting at the conference on the outcome of one of these project and then, with Hannah will be exploring what opportunities are available to the whole arboricultural discipline from the data that we all hold.

The Big Tree Data Project with Joe Fennel and The Open University brought over 15,000 anonymised tree records together form us and Arbor-eco consultancy, Bartlett Tree Experts, Barton Hyett Associates, Forest Research, Oxfordshire County Council, Sharon Hosegood Associates, TMA Environmental Consultants, Tree Frontiers and Wharton Natural Infrastructure. From this we produced:
