In 2011, Treework was appointed by Lendlease to advise on trees for a regeneration scheme in partnership with Southwark Council at what was then called the Heygate Estate.
13 years later, with much of the site built out, including a magnificent new park, Treework brought its whole team together to what is now Elephant Park to share their experiences and admire the results that we had contributed to.
For many of the team, this was their first time visiting the site. So, it was a moment of great pride to share what had been achieved as well as to reflect on how we have grown as a company, since 2011.
Treework has been involved in the project from the very early stages, working with Grant Associates on Masterplanning through to the detailed design and delivery on conditions and reserved matters, and with Gillespies, for the massive off-site tree planting scheme.
The breadth of work has meant that many of our team have been involved in supporting the project with their skills and our services. These include arboricultural consultancy, design input, 4D modelling, mapping, supervision, and inspection roles delivered by Matt Searle, Magda Mach, Supritha Hudgur, James Covenant and Alex Needs.
When we started on this project, Lendlease had embraced the vision, presented by Chris Baines, of a landscape with a 40-year head-start, defined by its mature trees. The project has since gained momentum, internationally recognised and is a multi-award-winning scheme. Lendlease’s continual commitment to the vision was fundamental to its success and Treework is proud and grateful to have supported the delivery of this vision with our tree expertise and our 4D model of CAVAT. This model allowed us to communicate the costs and benefits of practical decisions about trees throughout the design, planning, and construction process.
Our team have been fortunate to work with some tremendous companies and individuals over the years and we would like to thank Paula Garvey for her generosity with her time and knowledge.
We are proud of the work that we have done on Elephant Park and look forward to continuing to work with Lendlease and other partners on future projects.
